"Southern drawled Hamtramck country?"
Josh Daniels and the Addictions came together in Hamtramck, MI on a rainy spring evening in 2006. Not one musician had met another until that evening, but they created songs that night that congealed into country tinged tales of impious journeys. They began playing shows that summer and recorded an EP in fall of that year. The band can be contacted at myspace.com/jdanielsmusic, at myspace.com/jdanielsacoustic, or at switchbladerecords@yahoo.com.
Nudity, fist-fights and body-painting were not uncommon during their live shows. Venues, however, were not detered. The band played an exhausting schedule headlining shows in and around the Detroit area until fall 2007.
The musicians are now separated, but by distance only. Spring 2008 finds Josh collaborating with Switchblade by sending recordings he makes from his Arizona home. Switch's banjo is then laid on the tracks in Detroit. The songs ultimately wind up on Detroit/Windsor's 91.5 CJAM on Vern's Motown Hoedown.
Shows in AZ are sparatic, but Josh makes it out to a few venues in the Tucson/Phoenix area with his new percussionist, Kurt.
"Really fun sh*t kicking, cow pokin country blues just the way we like it round the Lager! Fast paced and upbeat numbers that manage to incorporate the free spirit of rockabilly and the rawness of psychobilly, without losing the straight up country flavor. This is good stuff! We expect a lot from these fellers!" -(THE LAGER HOUSE, Detroit, MI.)
"One of the best of the super crop of country/bluegrass tributes to come out of Detroit lately." -(CORKTOWN TAVERN, Detroit.)
"Josh Daniels and the Addictions present a set of country... that will leave their audience wanting to have another beer or whiskey to let the tunes sink in or forget about what they made them feel." -(THEDETROITER.COM)
